Welcome to Jabber & Fuss

This seemed as good a name as any for a blog that has the likelihood of becoming far-ranging and diverse in issues.

I could rail about the state of our political life, drop tidbits about working the so-called “gig economy”, and I also think I can throw in some interesting chunks of personal material including a curated selection of photos and writings by my father as he spent the final year of World War II “Somewhere in England”.

I had a dear, dear friend who used to contact me from time to time and announce that it was important that we get together at a nearby tea room for a good old ‘jabber & fuss’–I think the phrase might have come from some quaint Irish family member of hers.  Whatever the origin, I delighted in those tea room assignations with her.  Some conversations were magical and hilarious, some were just a plain old piss & moan (the alternative title I thought of for this blog).

My friend died after a nearly lifelong battle with breast cancer, but it never defined her–it just was a fact of life.   It’s been a few years since many of our lives dimmed a bit with her loss, but I now resurrect the Jabber & Fuss with lovely memories of her and the need for myself to say things out loud.  I doubt I will see her like again so this will have to do.
